COTTONWOOD — We still have our first skiff of snow on the ground and the temperature is still hovering around 10 to 20 degrees. Brrrrr! What an introduction to winter! But I guess it’s time.
A message to all Cottonwood area recyclers: The Cottonwood recycling site will be closed this winter if and when the temperature is forecast to be below 20 degrees Fahrenheit or if there is two feet or more snow on the ground. Cottonwood Recycling does a wonderful service for our community and we appreciate the efforts of those who work so diligently on this project.
Prairie Community Library will be closed for Thanksgiving from Nov. 26 through Dec. 1. Any books due during that time will not have a fine charge. The librarians are setting up a special section of Christmas novels. If your Christmas spirit needs a boost, come in and check something out of this section.
A four-week women’s Bible study will be held on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11 a.m. beginning Nov. 19. The study is called “How We Got the Bible, and It’s Overarching Story.” It will be hosted by Lorraine Roach in her home on Red Rock Road in the Winona area. The study is free and will feature short videos each week, handouts and discussion. All women are invited. For information and directions contact Lorraine at 983-9648 or 660-1818, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
The funeral for Anna Kolbeck was held last week. She was 40 days short of being 109 years old! As far as I know, she was the oldest resident in the area. Her family and friends will miss her.
Knights of Columbus Cottonwood Council 1389 is conducting a coat drive for kids in our area. If you know of any youth who needs a coat, contact Jim Remacle at the Credit Union, 962-3451. The Knights will provide them a coat. Also if you have a coat you would like to donate, contact a Knight.
