GRANGEVILLE — The GHS Concert Band has been selected to perform at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., on Friday, March 14, 2015.
“We sent in audition recordings more than a month ago,” said GHS music director, Kathy Stefani.
In addition to their performance, the band was chosen to receive a 90-minute recording session with a Disney musical director on Saturday, March 15. The band is made up of 70 members in grades nine through 12.
A video-taped performance audition was submitted in September, showing the band in costume while performing selections that might be performed for the park.
The band is nearing their fund-raising goal for the trip but needs additional funds to be able to provide transportation for all students. The charter bus holds only 58, so money raised will provide for supplemental transportation for the remaining students and chaperones.
The band and Varsity Blue choir provided a Disney night performance to a full house in October. The Christmas concert for grades 6-12 is set for GHS Thursday, Dec. 18, 7 p.m.
“Whether or not you have a student currently in school, we invite the community to come and celebrate the holidays with us at the concert,” Stefani said.
The GHS band traveled to Disneyland previously in 2012.
Current cost per student to be raised is about $266. To help with funding for the trip, contact Stefani at 983-0580 or e-mail email@example.com.
