GHS runs state meet’s course

BOISE — Grangeville’s Diego Barela ran the course at Eagle Island State Park — the course which will host the state championships on Nov. 1 — more than a minute faster than he ran it two years ago. And he wasn’t the only Bulldog who had a good outing last Saturday, Sept. 27.

“The meet was a fantastic experience for our runners,” coach Les Loeber said. “There were well over 1,000 runners at the meet.”

Grangeville’s division featured 275 boys and 213 girls running.

“I hope that the atmosphere at the race helped our runners see that cross-country is a major event in our state and region,” Loeber said.

Barela finished the boys race 28th with a time of 17:29, 1:15 faster than he ran two years ago.

Kaleala Bass finished the girls race 52nd with a time of 22:05.

Coming — Grangeville will run Saturday, Oct. 4 at Moscow.
