Quilters fair set for Saturday, Oct. 25

RIGGINS — Blevins Agency Real Estate located at 101 North Main Street in Riggins, just north of Riggins Elementary School, is holding its annual open house tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. They invite you to join them for food and fellowship.

St. Luke’s Riggins Clinic will be giving flu shots next Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 628-2666 to make your flu shot appointment.

Pinehurst Quilters will hold their 11th Craft and Quilt Auction Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Riggins Community Center just behind Crump’s Chevron. The auction will be held upstairs at 1 p.m. with preview of items beginning at noon. Refreshments and door prizes will be offered. Auction items featured are wall hangings, table runners and placemats, baby quilts, holiday decor, homemade jellies and candy, large quilts and a treasure table with items priced from $1 and up. There is plenty of parking and it is handicapped accessible. For information call Linda at 628-4261.

Yoga in the Salmon River Canyon of Riggins is held at the Heritage Center behind the Chevron Station Monday from 7:15-8:30 p.m. Level one, $3, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Multi-level, $3, Wednesday, 5:40-6:15 p.m. Guided Meditation, free, Wednesday 4:05-4:25 p.m. Youth Yoga at the Elementary School, free, Saturday, 8-9:30 a.m. Ashtanga Flow, $5; and Sunday,12:45-2 p.m., Level One, $3. Salmon River Community Church is putting together a current list of active military personnel that includes military members who are from the Salmon River area or are related to someone living in the area. Congratulations to our Salmon River Junior High School volleyball Long Pin League champions, Chevelle Shepherd, Emily Diaz, Alexis Pottenger, Sofie Branstetter, Lotus Harper, Jordyn Pottenger, Sierra Bovey, Tazarae Dischinger, Trista Ledgerwood and Coach Paula Tucker! The girls captured their title with a sweep Friday, Oct. 10.

SRHS homecoming football game was a victory over Cascade Ramblers 28-25. What an exciting game! SRHS homecoming royalty was king, Payton Herzig; queen, Miranda Hofflander; prince, Gabe Gonzales; and princesses, Payton Branstetter and Britni Colyer; junior high royalty was king, Isaac Hofflander, and queen, Sofie Branstetter. Homecoming was also senior night honoring four SRHS football players, Jimmy Shepherd, son of Charlie and Susan Shepherd; Brant Baugh, son of Jess and Brenda Baugh; Payton Herzig, son of Albert and Jessica Herzig; and Bryson King, son of Maggie and Mike Exum and Eric and Sonya King, playing their last home game at SRHS.

Robert C. Herman, 81, passed away Sept. 22 with his family surrounding him. Vera Christel Huff Derrick, 99, died Sept. 14, just a month and a half before her 100th birthday. Services for Christel will be held in the upstairs fellowship room at the Riggins Community Center located behind Crump’s Chevron Saturday, Oct. 18, at noon. Joe Wilson, 96, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, at his home in the White Bird area. Service date and time for Joe will be Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. at Hoot’s Café in White Bird.
