— The Halloween party for the kids is this Saturday, Oct. 25. It will be from 6-8 p.m. at the IOOF hall. There will be games, hot dogs and punch, costume contests, pumpkin carving/decorating contests and a cake walk. How cool the cake walk is, depends on how many goodies we get to give away. Bring a treat for it. Bake a cake, brownies, cupcakes, some cookies or a pecan pie. If you can help in any way, call Darla Brumley at 839-2205. Money always helps.

Don’t forget about the community potluck/meeting on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the school at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome. This will be a time for all of us to get together as a community, just to share a home-cooked meal and discuss this parks and recreation district. Bring your own beverage, a plate and a fork, and a dish to share with everyone. Be thinking about the concerns you may have about this. Be thinking about different ideas of what we could do with this property. We also need to be thinking about how our community will be impacted if we don’t turn the school into a parks and recreation district. Come to the potluck/meeting. It’s so very important, and who doesn’t want to eat at a White Bird potluck!

Voting day is Nov. 4. Don’t forget to vote! For those of you who say, “Our vote doesn’t count,” well, this is an important one because it affects our community directly.

The cribbage tournaments start this Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Silver Dollar. Be there early to make sure you get signed up. Everyone is welcome.

Halloween parties are in the near future. There will be a party at the Silver Dollar Bar. There will be a costume contest with cash prizes. Mac’s will also be having a party with live music. Joaquin and Verna Lowe and Dave Dixon will be the band. Since Mac’s serves food, kids are welcome to come to the dance until the kitchen closes. There’s going to be a fire pit on the outside patio, drink specials and a costume contest. Mac’s will also be having a prime rib special on Halloween.

Happy birthday this week to: Edith McKnight, Wilma Erne, Todd Martin, Linda Bailey, Pim Hoogland, Ellie and Amelia Marek, Kelly Turney, Jack Ray, Joe Fulford, Cody Black, Kelly Howard, Maggie Abbott, Mike Sickles and Doug McCool.
