ISP investigates collision

— Idaho State Police is investigating a multiple injury crash that occurred earlier this month at the Johnston and Tolo Lake roads intersection west of Grangeville.

A final ISP report is not yet completed, which would determine whether citations would be warranted in this incident. At this time, failure to yield is considered a factor in the Tuesday, Oct. 7, crash.

Wade Wiltse, 39, of Grangeville, and Ryan Kreitzer, 24, and Joshua Wells, 25, both of Nampa, were transported to Syringa Hospital.

The incident was reported at 11:29 a.m. Kreitzer was driving a 2012 Freightliner Penske box truck – loaded with mattresses and furniture — north on Johnston Road, en route to Spokane, and Wiltse is believed to have failed to stop his 1978 Ford pickup at a stop sign while traveling on Tolo Lake Road. The truck struck the pickup, and the vehicles came to rest north of the intersection off the right side of Johnston Road where shortly afterwards they caught on fire. All three men were able to exit the vehicles.

ISP Master Corporal John Ferriss is investigating the crash. Initial response to the scene was by Grangeville Police Chief Morgan Drew and Officer Mike Quintal, crews with Syringa Ambulance and Grangeville Rural Fire Department, and Idaho Transportation Department. Wrecker services were provided by Jackson’s Towing and C&B Towing.
