As I read some of last week’s letters, I worry about the politics of agendas. What I see elected public officials and candidates for public office vilified and accused by innuendo and cherry-picked phrases as having hidden agendas for personal gain.
Are we to assume that candidate Mark Frei will automatically defer all his decision-making to a current Idaho County commissioner because they are related? As long as we are assuming, by a similar standard some of these letter writers and candidates for county commissioner would be guilty by association also. Jim Rehder, former government employee with pension. Jim Wiebush, former government employee with pension. Dick Artley, former government employee with pension. Jerry Zumalt, former government employee with pension. One really big family.
So when one jumps to conclusions, at the very least the same standard should be held for everyone.
On another note, if you are going to vilify our commissioners for “giving” 15k to the American Lands Council to help us think out of the box/cage the federal bureaucracy has put us in, remember one thing. Fifteen thousand won’t cover even one month of pension, government health care and administrative costs of these four.
