Flamingo Fun Run organizer Addie Lutz (right) races participant Melinda Wimer to the finish line during the 5K race held last Saturday, Sept. 23 at Lions Park. Lutz said 220 preregistered and 44 registered on race day; the event raised more than $6,000 for spinal muscular atrophy charities. “The whole community was so supportive and generous I want them to know how much I appreciated their kindnesses,” Lutz said. “I never imagined it would be such a fantastic event. I had so much fun — I hope everyone else did as well.” Wimer finished fifth with a time of 25 minutes, 31 seconds.
