Heavy rains and wind gusts are forecast starting today for the North Central Idaho region, according to the National Weather Service office in Missoula.

Erratic wind gusts up to 40 mph and brief heavy rain are anticipated along a cold front moving through North Central Idaho and western Montana between this afternoon, Thursday, Sept. 25, and early Friday, Sept. 26. Within Idaho County, this is forecast to impact the Camas Prairie, Hells Canyon, and the corridors of both U.S. highways 12 and 95.

NWS advises electrical and telephone line poles may be damaged during this time. Some smaller trees may be damaged by the wind gusts as well. Also, brief, heavy rain may reduce visibility and tire grip on area roadways for a short time.
