COTTONWOOD — Mark Uhlenkott will be ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Boise on May 21 at St. Mary’s Church in Cottonwood. Save the date and plan to attend.

COTTONWOOD — We are having typical spring weather. One day it is nice and the next day it is so cold it freezes at night. Many rose bushes are dying because of the extreme weather changes.

Cottonwood town-wide yard sale day is set for May 16. It is being organized by “The Clowns” Relay for Life team. There will be advertising in several local papers and Swire Coca-Cola is donating a banner to be placed at the south entrance of Cottonwood. The Print Shop will be supplying flyers to distribute to the local communities and U.S. Bank will provide maps. You can have your residential sale placed on the city map for $7 or businesses for $10. All map proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Contact Tami Quick at 984-6505 to sign up on the map. Deadline is May 11. Anyone with items to donate to the Relay for Life yard sale can contact Tami, Donna at 962-3353 or Carolyn at 983-6392.

This is the week for Summit Academy’s play, The Anatomy of Comedy, a compilation of three one-act plays from three different Broadway productions. Under the direction of Kim Frei, who has directed the play for six years, this promises to be a must see comedy. See story on this page for details.

First Holy Communion took place last Sunday for Tri-Parish second graders. It was a beautiful ceremony due to the work of several teachers. Fr. Paul Wander talked to the children about the importance of this sacrament.

Remember to keep in your prayers, Joe Seubert, Patricia Trautman and Giles Nuxoll, all of whom passed away recently. Joe was a parish employee, Pat was my best friend and Giles was a classmate.

Also keep Gabbie Rehder in your prayers as she waits for a heart transplant in Seattle. She is a very special young lady and we hope for the best for her. A prayer vigil is planned for her on Monday, May 11, 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church.

Don’t forget the purse auction coming up on May 2, starts at 4 p.m. at the Hangout in Cottonwood. All proceeds go to YWCA to help aid victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Idaho and Lewis counties.
