Student’s photo moves on to national PTA competition

Russell, Lutz receive state awards

LEWISTON – Grangeville High School freshman Hailey Russell was honored at the state PTA convention in Lewiston at the Red Lion Hotel Friday, April 10.

Russell received an Award of Excellence at the state level on a PTA Reflections arts project in the photography category. She entered a photograph she took of a cowboy calf-roper at the July 2, 2014, Border Days Rodeo. Following the theme of “The World Would Be a Better Place If …,” her artists’ statement continued with, “…everyone pursued what brings them joy.” Russell’s photograph has been forwarded to the national PTA Reflections competition in Washington, D.C.

She also won an Award of Merit in the dance choreography category. Also winning an Award of Merit was Grangeville Elementary Middle School sixth grader Zoe Lutz for her still life photograph of a globe and stack of books.
