Filings open Monday, Aug. 24, for open city council positions

Filing deadline is Friday, Sept. 4, to be on the ballot for the Nov. 3 election



Candidacy filings open Monday, Aug. 24, for open city council positions.

Forms are available at prospective candidates’ respective city halls or through the Idaho County Elections Office at the courthouse. Candidates must file a petition with signatures of five qualified electors from within the city’s jurisdiction or pay a nonrefundable $40 filing fee.

Filing deadline is Friday, Sept. 4, to be on the ballot for the Nov. 3 election.

Open positions, by city, are as follows:

  • Ferdinand: The mayor position (four-year term) and two council positions (a two-year and four-year terms) are open. (city hall, 962-5640)
  • Cottonwood: Open are the mayor and two council positions, all four-year terms. (city hall, 962-3231)
  • Grangeville: Three four-year-term council positions are open. (city hall, 983-2851)
  • Kamiah: Two four-year-term council positions are open. (city hall, 935-2672)
  • Kooskia: Open is mayor (four year), and three council positions (two four-year and one two-year). (city hall, 926-4684)
  • Riggins: Two four-year-term council positions are open. (city hall, 628-3394)
  • Stites: The mayor and two council positions are open, all four-year terms. (city hall, 926-7121)
  • White Bird: Open are the mayor and two council positions, all four-year terms. (city hall, 839-2294)

Positions are also up for election on area fire and cemetery districts.

  • Cemetery: Clearwater, Cottonwood, Ferdinand, Grangeville, Kamiah, Keuterville, Pine Grove, Riggins, Winona, White Bird, Woodland.
  • Fire: Cottonwood, Grangeville, Harpster, Kamiah.
