Pow Wow set for weekend in Kamiah

— The 39th annual Chief Lookingglass Celebration is set for this weekend, Friday through Sunday, Aug. 21-23.

Friday, Aug. 21, starts with the memorial dinner at 11:30 a.m., memorials and name giving ceremonies at 1:30 p.m., and grand entry at 7 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 22, starts bright and early at 7 a.m. with a huckleberry pancake breakfast. The Friendship Feast is at noon and at 1 p.m. is the afternoon grand entry. The annual Lookingglass Pow Wow Parade is at 6 p.m. with the evening grand entry at 7 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 23, will close with the grand entry at 1 p.m. and drawings at 5 p.m.

Little Miss Lookingglass 2014-15 is Alexis Herrera. A royalty special will offer the 17 and younger jingle with first place at $300, second at $200 and third at $100.

Additional activities include a three-on-three basketball tourney and various vendors set up at the Wa-A-Yas Community Center and grounds in Kamiah where events take place. The parade will proceed down Main Street and back to the center grounds.
