Seniors meet Sept. 1

COTTONWOOD — There is no report this week as there was no meeting last week due to the fair. Menu for Sept. 1 is: chicken salad,/seasonal fruit, corn on the cob, indoor S’Mores, cinnamon rolls.

COTTONWOOD — Are we ever going to be rid of this smoke? I don’t remember any time that it was this bad. Let’s all pray for rain to put out the fires.

Awana is a nationwide, non-denomination ministry for children, ages 3 through high school. It consists of learning God’s Word, strengthening faith and lots of fun game time. Awana will be starting again in Cottonwood on Sept. 9, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 404 Foster Street. See www.awana.org or call Shayla at 507-1994.

Movie Night at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 404 Foster in Cottonwood. We will be showing “Do You Believe?” on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m. It is rated PG-13. Children should be accompanied by adults. There is no cost. If you didn’t get a chance to see it at the movie theatre, come join us.

The last summer Mass at Holy Cross Chapel will be Sunday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. The Holy Cross Guild will host a dessert potluck at the Holy Cross Hall following the Mass on Sept. 6. Bring a dessert and join us.

Prairie Faith Formation Program will be hosting an open house at the CEC building Aug. 27, beginning at 6 p.m. All are welcome.

Assumption Bazaar and Dinner chairmen are looking for prizes for the Assumption Parish bazaar raffle that will be held Nov. 1. Deadline will need to be Sept. 13. Call Marilyn at 962-3867 (home) or 962-3314 (work).

Congratulations to Sheryl and Leon Slichter for the great job they did as grand marshals for the fair. If anyone deserves that job, it would be them. They are a great couple. I don’t know about that huge fork that Leon is holding in the picture. Looks like he is going to work!
