KOOSKIA / KAMIAH Do you need proof that Santa really exists? Well on Saturday, Dec. 12, you can talk with him from 1-4 p.m. by ham radio. Be at Cloninger’s in Kamiah and Clearwater Valley Marketplace in Kooskia and members of the 3 Rivers Amature Radio Club will be in touch with him and you can personally deliver your message. What a treat!
Food plays a large part of the holiday festivities, and you can help make a big impact in the lives of those in our community who need help. Go through your pantry and gather up a bag full of canned food and bring it to one of the businesses listed below and not only will you help local people but you will receive a massage by Diana Heun a licensed massage therapist. The massage will include back, shoulders, arms and hands and it is free. At least three cans of food gets you a seat at her massage chair, and you will leave feeling a whole lot better on a lot of levels. Stop by Clearwater Valley Market Co-op at 411 Main Street Kamiah, across from the post office on Thursday, (that’s where I work) and Clearwater Progress at 417 Main Street, Kamiah on Friday. Bring nonperishable food and treat yourself to a massage.
Dec. 11 is the deadline so turn in your application to Umpqua Bank in Kooskia for the Tree of Sharing. All applicants must live in the Kooskia, Stites or Clearwater areas and be under the age of 18. Gifts for the sharing tree must be turned into the bank no later than Dec. 16.
The bank is also accepting donations for the local Clearwater Valley Food Bank. Bring in nonperishable items by the bank on Main Street in Kooskia.
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve “Toys for Tots” program will distribute toys on Saturday, Dec. 19, at the VFW Post in Kamiah, from noon until 5 p.m. Photo ID is required.
What’s Happening: Schedule a mammogram at the Kamiah Clinic, 935-2585. Mammograms are by appointment and are done the second Wednesday of each month.
In Kooskia, recycle Saturdays only 10 a.m. to noon. The Recycle Center is located across the bridge where the old pole yard was. Be sure to separate items.
