— Merry Christmas everyone. May the light of the Christ Child fill your heart and home with love.

The Christmas Mass schedule is as follows: Dec. 24, 5 p.m. at St. Mary’s with Fr. Ruben Nuxoll; Dec. 24, 7 p.m. at St. Anthony’s with Fr. Paul Wander; Dec. 24, 7 p.m. Assumption with Msgr. Andy Schumacher; Dec. 25, Midnight Mass at St. Mary’s with Fr. Paul Wander; Dec. 25, 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s with Fr. Paul/Fr. Ruben.

Mass times for the year will change on the weekend of Jan. 2-3. The new schedule for the entire year will be: Saturday, 5 p.m. Mass at Assumption; Sunday, 8 a.m. Mass at St. Mary’s; Sunday, 10 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony’s.

The play at Summit Academy Friday night had a special element to it this year. Thirteen of Virgil and Donna Wassmuth’s grandkids were in the play. The youngest, Weston Wassmuth, got to be Baby Jesus. This will be the only time that all 13 will act in the play together, as the older ones will graduate before Weston goes to school. The play was based on the book, “St. Margaret of Scotland.” This year’s nativity play was dedicated to author, Anne Guerin, for her personal intentions, the intentions of her family, and that her great desire for souls to draw near to the Christ Child through the example of St. Margaret are realized. Anne Guerin is a local author and was set up at the play to sell and autograph copies of her books. It was a wonderful performance and all the children did a great job.

Skiers are getting excited for the opening of Cottonwood Butte Ski Area. Check Facebook or for updates on when they will open. They want to remind everyone that punch cards already purchased do not have an expiration date and can be used again this year. They are also looking for volunteers and workers in the lodge and the lift lines. If you are interested in working or trading volunteer hours for skiing, call Maureen Munger at 962-7024 for scheduling details.
