Investment will assist transportation needs

Letter: Deb Smith, Lewiston

Hats off to the Syringa Auxiliary Thrift Shop and Grangeville Chamber of Commerce for financially supporting the “Connecting U Bus Service;” the investment made by these partners will assist those without transportation or unable to drive to meet basic needs through increased access to health care, shopping and social activities.

Every Wednesday, “Connecting U Bus Service” provides free transportation to the residents of Riggins, Lucile and White Bird to Grangeville and then back again. Anyone can ride; priority is given to seniors, disabled and those with medical appointments. Stops include Syringa Clinics, dentists, pharmacy, eye doctors, banks, shopping and more. The bus leaves Riggins at 9 a.m. (MT) and arrives at the White Bird City Park at 9 a.m. (PT). Seats must be reserved 48 hours in advance.

Transportation is provided by Salmon River Transit; call 628-2394.

Lack of mobility options often keep our family members, friends and neighbors from accessing fundamental services such as filling a prescription, having eyeglasses repaired and even grocery shopping.

Please take time to thank the Syringa Auxiliary Thrift Shop, Grangeville Chamber of Commerce, and Salmon River Transit for their investment in the well-being of the residents of White Bird, Lucile and Riggins.
