Jan. 19 community presentation set on current drug trends

COTTONWOOD — Nationally known speaker Jermaine Galloway will conduct a presentation on current drug trends at a Jan. 19 community event in Cottonwood. The public is invited to attend the presentation, starting at 6 p.m. at the Cottonwood Community Hall, sponsored by the Cottonwood Police Department.

Along with the presentation, dinner will be provided. Organizers ask attendees to contact them so a head count can be made for dinners to provide. Find out about Galloway online at

Grangeville garbage pickup changes to Saturdays for holidays

GRANGEVILLE — City of Grangeville residents are advised that Walco garbage pickup for Fridays will be changed to Saturdays for the Christmas (on Dec. 26) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 2) holidays. For information, call Grangeville City Hall at 983-2851.

Roberts sworn in as ISP trooper; to serve in Lewiston

BOISE – Gideon Roberts of Grangeville was one of 16 new Idaho State Police troopers sworn in during a ceremony at the State Capitol Rotunda in Boise last Friday, Dec. 18.

Roberts will be assigned to the Lewiston area for District 2. Prior to serving with ISP, Roberts was a deputy with the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office. He was part of ISP’s Advanced Training Class (ATC) that underwent a 16-week field training program.

Nez Perce-Clearwater Forests office closures during the holidays

Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests offices will be closed in the afternoon on Thursday, Dec. 24, and will be closed Christmas Day (Friday, Dec. 25), as well as New Year’s Day (Friday, Jan. 1).  President Obama signed an Executive Order authorizing a half-day closure of agencies of the federal government on Dec. 24.
