American Red Cross blood drive to be held Jan. 7

GRANGEVILLE — The next American Red Cross blood drive will be held Thursday, Jan. 7 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Grangeville Armory. Appointments can be made by calling Dana Groom at 983-8571. Walk-ins are welcome after 2 p.m.

Clearwater Meal Center luncheon set for Jan. 6

CLEARWATER — The Clearwater Meal Center’s next luncheon is set for Wednesday, Jan. 6, noon. Meals are served the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Clearwater Baptist Church. No charge for the luncheon, $5 donation appreciated when possible. All are welcome. Call 926-7776.

New Year’s Eve party scheduled for Christian Reformed Church

GRANGEVILLE — Grangeville Christian Reformed Church will have a New Year’s Eve party Dec. 31, 6 p.m. The community is invited for a night of games, movies and food.

White Bird Rec District sets game night, breakfasts

WHITE BIRD – The White Bird Recreation District, which meets at the recreation hall (former White Bird School) has set two monthly activities.

Friday night games will begin Jan. 8, and run 6-9 p.m. Families are invited to take part. Bring a game or play the ones that have been donated. There is no cost.

The last Friday of the month the rec district hosts a potluck breakfast from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Bring a dish to share and visit with friends.

Let’s Talk About it starts Jan. 19 at GCL

GRANGEVILLE — The Let’s Talk About It book club series will start Jan. 19 at Grangeville Centennial Library. Books are currently available for pick-up.

Dates of books are: Jan 19 - Hope: A Tragedy by Shalom Auslander; Feb 9 - Where’d You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple; March 1 - The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde; March 22 - Messages From My Father by Calvin Trillin; and April 22 - Pudd’nhead Wilson by Mark Twain.

All are invited to participate.

Jan. 19 community presentation set on current drug trends

COTTONWOOD — Nationally known speaker Jermaine Galloway will conduct a presentation on current drug trends at a Jan. 19 community event in Cottonwood. The public is invited to attend the presentation, starting at 6 p.m. at the Cottonwood Community Hall, sponsored by the Cottonwood Police Department.

Along with the presentation, dinner will be provided. Organizers ask attendees contact them so a headcount can be made for dinners to provide. Find out about Galloway online at Tallcopsaysstop.com.

13 GOP presidential candidates to be on March 8 ballot

The Idaho Republican Party announced 13 Republican candidates have officially filed to participate in the Idaho Presidential Primary Election.

The following Republican candidates will appear on the 2016 Presidential Primary Ballot: Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Lindsey Graham, Mike Huckabee, John R. Kasich, Peter Messina, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Rick Santorum and Donald J. Trump.

The Presidential Primary Election will take place on March 8, 2016. Early voting and absentee voting will be available. All other federal, statewide, and local primary election races will take place in the regular primary on May 17.
