GRANGEVILLE “We’re offering homemade soups each day,” smiled Trish Hinkson.
Trish and her husband, Matt, along with his mom, Marie Hinkson, purchased the former Dog Pound on Grangeville’s Main Street in September. The couple is running the eatery and mom is “behind the scenes mostly,” they said.
Renamed “Sweet Brew,” the business offers a variety of menu items including cheeseburgers, nachos, BLTs, fries and soups. The Hinksons plan to add bagels and bagel sandwiches and are still selling ice-cream and toppings by the ounces and a wide array of hot and cold drinks.
“I just really wanted to own my own business and felt this would be a good opportunity,” Matt said. He will still work in information technology on the side.
Trish comes with the restaurant experience, having lived and worked for a decade in Lincoln City, Ore.
“I worked in a bit of every type of diner and café, so I have quite a bit of food experience,” she said.
She moved to Grangeville when she and Matt met through mutual friends and eventually married. They each graduated from high school in 1999 and have three daughters who attend Clearwater Valley Elementary School in Kooskia, where the family lives.
Sweet Brew is currently open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They offer delivery services as well as take-out, and before or after hours meeting and party space at their 130 West Main Street location (next to Pizza Factory).
They currently have a punch card available that comes with three already in it and offers a “buy nine espressos, get the 10th free” option.
