Salmon River's district tournament offers the Savages two potential pathways to state. The direct route involves winning three straight games starting tonight, Feb. 4, and continuing at 6 p.m. Feb. 7 culminating in the district championship game at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 10. With one loss at any stage, Salmon River would have to win out just to reach a play-in game scheduled for Valentines Day in McCall, where all the tournament games are set to be played.
SRHS is set to open with Wilder at 6 p.m. tonight, with a likely rematch against Tri-Valley looming on Saturday -- assuming Tri-Valley fends off lower-seeded New Meadows at 7:30 p.m. this evening. Should Salmon River continue to advance, possible opponents include top-seeded Council, Garden Valley and Cascade.
Apart from Council, which defeated SRHS 52-24 in January, and Wilder, which the Savages have not yet played this year, SRHS have wins over all their possible tournament foes to their credit this season.
