GRANGEVILLE — An audition will be held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) production of Aladdin Monday, Feb. 9, at the Grangeville Elementary Middle School multi-purpose room from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Those auditioning should arrive at 3:30 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.
Among the roles to be cast are Aladdin and his mother, the Princess Dory and her father the Sultan along with his adviser the Grand Vizier. In addition, roles will be available for the keeper of the book of answers, Dinazade, and her sister Scheherazade, The Mysterious One and some mischievous genies. Also in the play are a stubborn donkey and spunky goat, scheming Cassim and Ali Baba, Sinbad and his sailors, wise-cracking palm trees and fleet-footed camels, a cave of wonders, vagabonds, and even a pack of lost penguins.
Students kindergarten through eighth grade in public, private and home schools are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week, and to take on essential backstage responsibilities.
MCT touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. MCT tour actor/directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 3:30 to 8 p.m. each day.
Aladdin will be presented Friday, Feb. 13, at GEMS. The MCT residency in Grangeville is brought to the community by Kids Klub with support from Idaho Forest Group.
