March Maddness art show set for 21st

WHITE BIRD — 2014 saw the Salmon River Art Guild introduce a very special show and sale of miniature artwork for less than $50. This March Miniature Madness Show was such a success, the Guild announces its second annual show March 21 at Hoots Café just South of White Bird. This is a members only show offering great art, in sizes 11 x 14 or smaller, again, each selling for $50 or less. Come and enjoy the art and meet many of the Guild artists at Hoot’s!

WHITE BIRD — Valentine’s Day is this Saturday. Don’t forget to tell those special people how much you love them! One way you could do that is take them out to dinner.

Lonnie’s Corner Deli will be having a Valentine’s dinner special. It will begin at 3 p.m. There will be eight-ounce flatiron steak with tequila grilled shrimp, baked potato or rice pilaf and soup or salad, plus dessert for $19.95.

You still have time to buy tickets to win one of the Rebekahs’ wonderful Valentine baskets that they will be giving away. You can find tickets at the local businesses. These baskets are always full of all kinds of great stuff, so you won’t want to miss out on a chance to win one. The winners of the baskets will be drawn at the Fireman’s Valentine Dance and Auction at Hoot’s on Feb. 14. You do not have to be present to win.

The Fireman’s Valentine Dance and Auction is this Saturday, Feb. 14, at Hoot’s. This is a huge fund-raiser for all Grangeville, Riggins, White Bird and the Salmon River Rural Fire departments. It starts at 7 p.m. There will be a live and silent auction. There will also be live music by Joaquin and Verna Lowe and Dave Dixon. The silent auction will end at 10 p.m. and the live auction will take place during the bands’ breaks until everything is auctioned off. If you would like to donate something to this wonderful fund-raiser, you can drop it off at Canyon House. Hoot’s will be serving up prime rib, baby back and BBQ ribs in the restaurant before the dance and auction. Support your firefighters on Valentine’s Day at Hoot’s. Cost to get in is $5 a person.

The cribbage tournament last Saturday brought in 22 players. Janis took first and Lou got second. They play crib every Saturday at 2 p.m., at the Silver Dollar. Everyone is welcome to join.

Happy Birthday this week to: Yeon Davis, Gene Hargett, Norma Moore, Jessica Boone, Megan Bashaw, Lindley, Don Erne, Brittany Leasy, Hailey Johnson, Jerry McManus, Dewitt Randall and my very own valentine, Canyon Walker Lowe.
