GREENCREEK – Current information on the grain industry will be presented at the Prairie Area Cereal School set for Tuesday, Feb. 24, in Greencreek. Preregistration is requested by next Tuesday, Feb. 17.
The program agenda includes topics on cereal production systems, including variety information, fertility management and weed research. Special topics this year include food barley production potential, falling numbers and wheat quality, and new Risk Management Agency programs connected with the 2014 Farm Bill.
Administrators from the Idaho wheat and barley commissions will give an overview of markets, production, research and commission activities.
Credits for pesticide recertification credits and CCA will be available.
Registration is at 7:30 a.m. and the program begins at 8 a.m. Lunch by the Greencreek Altar Society is sponsored by the Idaho Wheat Commission and Idaho Barley Commission.
All ag producers and agri-support personnel, and the public are invited to attend. The program is being sponsored by University of Idaho Extension in cooperation with Lewis and Idaho County Grain Producers, Idaho barley and wheat commissions, and the Idaho/Lewis Extension Crops Advisory Committee.
