GRANGEVILLE Who let the dogs out? Ask Carrie Marek.
Marek is the new face behind the counter at the former Yummyz on Main Street. Now named The Dog Pound, Marek purchased the business and is offering new products.

“I wanted to have something affordable and fun for families,” she said.
The Dog Pound offers a variety of lunch and dinner items including nachos, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, pulled pork sandwiches, chili and pretzels.
“There’s a condiment bar so people can fill up their hot dogs and hamburgers with all the goodies they like,” Marek said.
In addition, the eatery will still offer coffee and ice cream as well as a variety of soft drinks and other beverages.
“I want kids to be able to be here, hang out, do homework, come in and utilize the free WIFI and just have a place to be,” she said. “We also have the door going through to Pizza Factory’s arcade and rest rooms with full access there.”
Marek has plans to later offer a big screen and a buddy bar with stools and specific plug-ins for electronic devices.
“That’s in the future,” she smiled. “I need to get the hang of everything else first.”
Marek and her husband, Jim, and children, Jaycee, eighth grade, and Colt, third grade, will run The Dog Pound as a family business. Marek has experience in this arena as her parents owned an arcade type of restaurant in Clarkston when she was growing up.
The Dog Pound is located at 130 West Main Street, next to The Pizza Factory, and is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays (closed Sundays). Call 983-4226 for pre-orders, take-outs or a menu.
