COTTONWOOD Harvest is progressing well on the Camas Prairie. On the average, most farmers are reporting yields are down from what they usually are. Haying is winding up on the west side of the prairie. It was cold this morning when we were out picking raspberries. The berries are almost finished also.
Huckleberry picking is not getting good reviews either. They are finding some, but they are small and far between. Zucchini is the only thing doing well. I know everyone loves that! I guess we might as well go fishing.
Our pheasants are all out on their own now. We opened the door and they stayed around until they were comfortable in the outside world. I’m pretty sure they haven’t gone far, as we can hear them calling to each other. The roosters are really getting pretty.
Raspberry Festival is coming up this Sunday, Aug. 2. The weather has cooled off quite a bit, so it should not be so hot. Make plans to be there for a wonderful time.
I heard a rumor that Lloyd Nuxoll had a birthday this week. Did you wish him a happy birthday? Oh, maybe I’m not supposed to report rumors.
