Knapton is new Lochsa/Powell District ranger

— Brandon Knapton will be joining the Nez Perce Clearwater National Forests Aug. 3 as the new Lochsa/Powell district ranger.

Knapton comes from the Bureau of Land Management in Southern Idaho, where during the past seven years he has worked closely with management, staff, and a multitude of programs as a resource coordinator on the 4.4 million-acre Boise District.

He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Idaho in 2001 from the College of Natural Resources in Wildlife Resources, with course work emphasis in statistics and rangeland ecology.

He began his pursuit of a natural resources management career by volunteering when he was a sophomore in high school. His pursuit has included positions in Glacier Park, SW Wyoming, Eastern Oregon, and in North Central Idaho for University Researchers and Idaho Fish and Game.

Joining Knapton are his wife Melissa, and their two daughters Madelynn and Emma.
