Music, festivals run into weekend

Kooskia Days starts Thursday

— It’s a busy weekend ahead with the 62nd annual Kooskia Days celebration set for this weekend.

Things will start off Thursday night, July 30, 7:30 p.m., with the Old Opera House’s “Casting Oklahoma” production. Tickets are $12 and will also play Friday and Saturday nights.

Friday, July 31, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the AWANA racer construction will begin at city park and continue through 1 p.m. Saturday. Call 926-4517. The grand prix is set for the Kooskia City Hall, sponsored by Valley Bible Church, at 3 p.m. Saturday.

A soft pitch game is set for 6 p.m., at the Kooskia City Park, coed, ages 16 and older and will include some of the Kooskia Krush members.

Saturday, Aug. 1, an all-you can eat breakfast is set for 7 to 11 a.m. at the IOOF Hall on Main Street. At 8 a.m. the Tie Die Scholarship run will be held (register at 7 a.m.). Call 935-5806. At 9 a.m., 3-on-3 basketball play will start at Clearwater Valley Elementary School. Call 553-5789.

A kiddie carnival sponsored by Valley Bible Church Ministries will start at 10 a.m. at the park. Call 926-4761. A duck pond, fish pond, ring toss and other games as well as a photo booth with props will be available, and snow cones, nachos, bottled water, pop and cotton candy will be sold.

The main Kooskia Days parade will start at 11 a.m. featuring grand marshals Joan Renshaw, Jane Wilsey and Irene Agee. Lineup is at 9 a.m. by CVES and judging begins at 9:45 a.m. Call 926-4236 to register.

Also at 11 a.m., registration will begin for the Show and Shine at city park; $10 entry fee. Call 790-5054.

Directly following the parade, a ping-pong ball drop for the kids will be held at Kooskia Airport. In addition, the Kooskia Saddliers will host an O-Mok-See at their new arena on U.S. Highway 12. Events will begin at 1 p.m. Call 926-7391.

Enjoy Josh Crosby and Band, sponsored by Kamiah Community Credit Union, on Main Street from 8 to 12 p.m. The Kooskia Chamber of Commerce Beer Garden will also be open 8 p.m. to midnight.

Sunday, Aug. 2, cleanup is set for Main Street starting at 5:30 a.m. Volunteers are welcome. The Life Center will offer a worship service at Kooskia City Park at 10 a.m.

Kooskia Days is sponsored overall by the Greater Kooskia Chamber of Commerce. Visit for details. Vendors will begin setting up Friday through Saturday morning on Main Street and Kooskia City Park; $15 fee goes to the chamber. Call 553-2106.
