Kids football camp to be held Aug. 10-11

GRANGEVILLE — Bulldog Kids Camp will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 10-11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the upper practice field at GHS.

Camp is for all kids from area schools entering fourth through eighth grade this fall. Cost is $35.00 which includes lunch for both days with a camp T-shirt.

Registration forms can be picked up at Northwest Insurance and Lindsley's Home Furnishings.

Volleyball set to begin at GHS Aug. 14

GRANGEVILLE – A parent meeting for Grangeville High School volleyball is set for Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the high school, 6 p.m. in the library.

Practices for volleyball will begin Friday, Aug. 14, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. There will also be one practice Saturday, Aug. 15, 7 a.m. Practices will resume Monday, Aug. 17, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Two-a-day practices will end Tuesday, Aug. 18, with 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. practices.

Players entering the ninth and 11th grades will need to have a physical prior to the first practice on Aug. 14.

Preseason football events scheduled

GRANGEVILLE — The GHS player combine will also be held Aug. 6, at 5 p.m., with gear handout to be finished at that time. GHS football parents are to meet coaches at 7 p.m. Aug. 6 in the high school gym.

The GHS football Kids Camp is scheduled for Aug. 10-11, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The first varsity and JV practice is slated for Monday, August 10, 6:30-8:30 a.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs will scrimmage at 7 p.m. Aug. 21. GHS has once again scheduled a “Zero Week” regular season opener, which will be Aug. 28 at Moscow.

Swim team’s home meet slated Aug. 15

GRANGEVILLE — The swim team’s home meet falls on Aug. 15 this year. Swimmers should arrive for warmups at 8 a.m., as competition is to start at 9 a.m.

Raspberry Festival fun run coming up Aug. 2

COTTONWOOD — The annual Raspberry Festival Fun Run falls on Sunday, Aug. 2.

Pick up controlled hunt tags by Aug. 1

Big game hunters who were successful in drawing controlled hunt tags for deer, elk, pronghorn, and bear have until midnight Mountain Daylight Time, this Saturday, Aug. 1 to buy their tags.

Controlled hunt tags not purchased by Aug. 1, except unlimited tags, will be forfeited and made available in a second drawing.

The application period for the second drawing runs from Aug. 5-15, with the drawing to be held around Aug. 20. Any remaining tags leftover from the second drawing will be available first-come, first-served Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. Mountain Time.

Hunters can buy their tags at any Fish and Game office, license vendor, by telephone at 800-554-8685, or

fishandgame.idaho.gov.

Sage-grouse season up for public input

Fish and Game is seeking public input on sage-grouse hunting proposals. Upland bird managers will present sage-grouse hunting season recommendations to the Idaho Fish and Game Commission Aug. 11 in Idaho Falls. A public comment period is open through Aug. 2.
