Bulldog Benefit golf tourney set
GRANGEVILLE — A four-person scramble in support of GHS football is set for Sunday, June 7, at Grangeville Country Club, with tee-off set for noon.
Cost is $50 per player or $200 per team, with awards to the top three places and prizes.
Contact Shane Wood, 451-0069, or Alex Cawley, 451-6205, who are organizing the fund-raiser as a senior project.
In recent years, Grangeville High School has reliably cast a wide net in the course of trying to bag the strongest possible competition for the school’s football program, and has made games in southern Idaho part of the regular season routine.
Next fall, a northern Idaho school will make a long journey to Grangeville for a Saturday evening game, Oct. 24.
While GHS ordinarily schedules home-and-home sets, the Sandpoint game may prove a one-off opportunity, as Sandpoint came to the Bulldogs after a cancellation.
“We always want to play up,” coach Jeff Lindsley said. “But it can work both ways. If you come away from it clean and healthy, it’s a positive.”
Sandpoint posted a 6-5 overall record in the 4A Inland Empire league, including a 55-34 win over Moscow — a team Grangeville defeated 43-18 at GHS last August.
