Prescribed fire operations to run through June on two timber sales

Starting this week, the Forest Service plans to enact prescribed fire operations in the Blanco and 66 timber sales through the month of June, weather pending.

The 66 Timber Sale is located on the west side of the Red River Meadows across from the WMA, with the plan for burning around 130 acres. These units will be visible from the Red River Road (FS 222) and are adjacent to private land. Some smoke may linger in the meadow through the night but should clear out in the morning. Units planned to burn in the Blanco Timber Sale are along the FS 1189 and its spur roads. Smoke may be visible from the road.

For information: Tom (842-2117) or Josh Bransford, FMO (842-2123).  If neither is available, call the Elk City Ranger Station at 842-2245.
