Potato Express to be in Grangeville June 25

GRANGEVILLE — The food bank’s “Potato Express” truck will give away free potato products to whoever can use them Thursday, June 25, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This will take place in the Senior Citizens Center parking lot.

There is no income qualification; just sign in with a name and number of family members. Anyone who can use the potatoes (sometimes frozen, French fries or a variety) is invited to stop by.

County Democrats picnic, auction on tap for June 28

WHITE BIRD — The Idaho County Democrats annual picnic and pie auction will be held at Grangeville’s Pioneer Park Sunday, June 28. Potential candidates will be in attendance at this off-election year event. Bring a dish to share, a pie for the auction and wear blue.

Idaho County Fair royalty contestants sought for 2015-16

COTTONWOOD — The Idaho County Fair Royalty committee is seeking young ladies ages 14 to 18 interested in participating in the 2016 royalty program. Girls must be going into their sophomore through senior years of high school and be available through the completion of the fair. Deadline for applicants is June 30.

Royalty applications can be picked up at the Idaho County Extension office located in the Idaho County Courthouse or by calling Idaho County Fair Royalty advisor Karla Enneking at 962-3892 or e-mail Applications can be dropped off at the extension office or mailed to Karla Enneking at P.O. Clearwater Meal Center luncheon set for June 17

CLEARWATER — The Clearwater Meal Center’s next luncheon is set for today, Wednesday, June 17, noon. Meals are served the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Clearwater Baptist Church. No charge for the luncheon, $5 donation appreciated when possible. All are welcome.

VBS set for Cottonwood

COTTONWOOD — It’s vacation Bible school time for Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cottonwood. Children age 4 years old through sixth grade are admitted free from June 22-26, 9 a.m. to noon. Grab your expedition gear and prepare for “Journey Off the Map!” For an added treat, join in on Saturday, June 20, noon to 1 p.m., for the bouncy house, along with hot dogs and light refreshments and an opportunity to preregister for VBS. Stites Baptist has new pastor, sets activities

STITES — Ben Bannister is the new pastor for Stites Baptist Church. Services are Sundays at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Food Bank, a donation meal, is set for June 18 at 11 a.m. A free yard sale (no prices on items) is June 27. Vacation Bible school is set for July 27-31, 9 a.m. to noon.

White Bird Days

WHITE BIRD — The Salmon River Art Guild show will take place during White Bird Days, Saturday, June 20, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the IOOF Hall in White Bird. This is free to the public. This member art show will include a silent auction, people’s choice awards and demonstrations.

Ridge Runner Fire Department to host luau

BIG CEDAR — Ridge Runner Fire Department is hosting a luau Friday, June 19, 6-8:30 p.m., at the Big Cedar Schoolhouse on Red Fir in Kooskia. Join in for a $5 dinner, games and a cake walk. A winner for a drawing of the hog raffle will take place. Contact Rachel Andrews at 926-4327.

80th birthday celebration set for Remacle

COTTONWOOD — There will be an 80th birthday celebration for Dick Remacle of Cottonwood on Saturday, June 20, at the Cottonwood City Park, 2-5 p.m.
