WEISER The third annual Weiser Banjo Contest at the old Intermountain Institute in Weiser is this weekend. Saturday, June 20, from 2-5 p.m. will feature bluegrass-style music and banjo jokes with open style and banjo accessories contest from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, June 21, from 2-5 p.m. will feature old-time style and tall tales with banjo plus fiddle style and hog calling from 6-9 p.m. Last year’s banjo contest at Weiser was another big success so the location will be the same – the beautiful lawn under the trees at Beardsley Hall. An indoor venue will be used if weather is inclement. We appreciate the generosity of Mike McEvoy who owns the contest lawn and graciously allows us to use it again.
The 2015 National Oldtime Fiddlers’ Contest and Festival held annually in Weiser will begin this Monday, June 22, and run through Saturday, June 27. The festival offers lots of fiddle music, parades, food, and other great activities for the whole family. They are bringing back their twin fiddling as well as the swing fiddling competition! Plan now to attend the National Oldtime Fiddlers’ Contest and Festival.
