A new six-team Babe Ruth Baseball league brought together teams from the area as far south as McCall, and the young Prairie Pirates won the year-end tournament. The tournament started in Orofino last Friday, June 19, and ended in Kooskia on Saturday. In the championship game, the Cottonwood team topped Grangeville 11-1 — avenging Prairie’s only loss of the season. The Pirates beat McCall (8-5) and Orofino (8-4) to reach the title game. Grangeville won their play-in game against Nezperce and Clearwater Valley lost their play in game vs McCall, Grangeville beat Orofino on Saturday morning. Orofino placed third and McCall placed fourth.
