Taking the circus for a ride ...

Lowell, Syringa News

Marie Smith Lowell, Syringa 926-4430

LOWELL/SYRINGA — It all came and went last Sunday, Father’s Day, summer solstice, first day of summer, Idaho County taxes due, highwaymen biker meet at Johnson Bar campground, Culpepper and Merriweather Circus in Kooskia, big controversial Selway River Timber Sale, and record-breaking water levels. Did we survive up here in Lowell and Syringa? Yes we did!

We got ‘em all out on the water. Using our Spiders by Maravia, four paddlers to a boat, plus a guide in the back, we surged down the mighty Lochsa! The bikers, the scouts, the loggers, the honeymooners, the fathers, the lion tamers, the clowns and jugglers and the doctors and lawyers too! Even the ringmaster got wet. One more week on the Lochsa and we move on! Life is good!

P.S. Thank you to the Three Rivers’ guides for the beautiful basket of flowers arranged by Marcia Graves, very nice. Thanks, Gary, Ty, Danny, Joseph, Liam, Jim, Ethan, and I’m forgetting one guy’s name!
