Raffle prize focuses on local history

COTTONWOOD — The Welcome Center at St. Gertrude is giving away a basket of goods made at the Monastery including “Our Story,” the recently released collection of first-person histories that celebrates Cottonwood’s sesquicentennial. The stories are written by local families about their ancestors’ lives in the Cottonwood, Keuterville, Greencreek and Ferdinand areas.

The first two volumes of “Our Story” are now in their third printing.

“The response has been overwhelming,” said Debra Graham, a staff member. “People are excited about it because it’s about them.”

Other items include Monastery Nature’s Gifts soaps, salve, and lip balm; a bottle of Raspberry wine, chocolate, and more. The basket is valued at more than $100.

People can enter the raffle for free when they visit the Welcome Center at the Monastery of St. Gertrude. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The drawing will take place April 7. Those who enter need not be present to win and no purchase is necessary.
