COTTONWOOD — Summit seventh grade girls participated in a volleyball tournament held at Prairie Elementary School on Saturday. Summit won the championship and was undefeated for the day. They played Asotin in the final game.

The Summit Academy’s boys’ high school basketball team finished their season with 11 league wins and just one league loss which earned them the White Pine League district title for Division 2. At the district tournament, which was held at LCSC last week, the Patriots finished first and will now advance to the state basketball tournament held in Caldwell this upcoming weekend. Their first game will be Thursday and they will take on the Carey Panthers. This information was provided by Summit Academy.

The Prairie Pirates boys’ basketball team finished their season 12-0 in league games which made them the White Pine League District Division 1 regular season champions. They were defeated during the district tournament by the Lapwai Wildcats in a close game but will still advance to the state tournament. The Pirates will take on the Ambrose Archers on Thursday in Caldwell.

We are proud of all the athletes who are representing our schools.

The Lincoln Day Dinner held last week was well-attended. Christ Troupis gave a good explanation of why Common Core in the schools is not a good thing.
