Honor to direct GHS band students; thanks for your support

Letter: Kathy Stefani

On behalf of the Grangeville High School Concert Band, I would like to express our thanks to the generous community of Grangeville for all your support in helping us perform in Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., March 19-20. The band was selected by audition last fall and has been working since that time to complete the fund-raising and the rehearsing necessary to make the trip. We have done this every third year so as to spread out the fund-raising, but this year needed to raise money for a second bus so the entire band could make the trip. The band will not only perform in the park but will also spend 90 minutes in a Disney recording studio under the direction of a Disney screenplay musical director, playing and recording music they have never seen before to be set to animation.

Neither Grangeville High School nor Mtn. View School District #244 pay any portion of travel. Though students are paying a large portion individually, we would never have been able to take each student without the help of local groups such as the Boosters, Lions, Kiwanis, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 0037, Syringa and so many personal donations from parents, grandparents, alumnae and supporters both within and outside of Grangeville. It is an honor to direct this group of students.

Our most sincere thanks.

Kathy Stefani
