Intolerant attitude not indicative of what most Idahoans, Catholics believe

Letter: Eleanor Wagner Grangeville

As a practicing Catholic myself, I think it is time to address Senator Nuxoll’s action, rudeness and insulting remarks she said about Hinduism. I’m sure others may question why Catholics pray the Rosary, light candles, pray in front of statues and pray to the Virgin Mary. So be it. It works for me.

I am totally offended by your statement that “that’s what Idaho believes.” If so, why were there only three other senators beside you who refused to be tolerant and attend the meeting?

Perhaps you should look up Hinduism on the Internet like I did. From what I gathered it is a peaceful religion, and concerning the cow, they believe it is a symbol of life and can never be killed. Taken from this quote, “Hinduism believes that no religion teaches the only way to salvation above all others, but that all genuine paths are a facet of God’s light deserving tolerance and understanding.”

Your intolerant attitude is not indicative of what most Idahoans or Catholics believe. To tell the truth, I don’t agree with most of what Senator Nuxoll has voted on – for or against, since your votes lead me to believe you lack compassion for other religions, and for people born to be what they are, and common sense about your vote of guns on campus. This has cost millions of dollars to implement this insane law.

Getting back to religion, on my journey of writing and research I have loved this quote of one old-timer in a history book. When he was asked by someone which church he belonged to, his reply was, “What difference does it make, we’re all spittin’ at the same crack.”
