KOOSKIA/KAMIAH – Valley Garden Club annual plant/baked food sale, CV Market Place sidewalk, Main Street, Kooskia, Friday, May 8, 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Lots of vegetable and annual plants as well as perennials. Some of the best cooks in the area are members of this club; always good food. This is always a “must do” each year. Helps this great organization and gives you a jump-start on your garden. Talk about a win-win!

Next day, Saturday, May 9, visit Tahoe Quick Response Unit across the street at Potter’s Mall, in front, on the sidewalk; this is their annual fund-raising bake sale. They will also be kicking off their rifle raffle, and you could purchase the winning ticket. Bring goodies for sale to their tables by 10 a.m. Sale begins at 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., or until all those goodies are gone. This is one of their major attempts to raise funds to support their unit for their day-to-day expenses. This is a really great and effective group which is made up of all volunteer EMTs and drivers who serve a remote area east of Kooskia. Come out and support this group of tireless workers.

The Kooskia Relay for Life Team from the Valley Bible Church will have their spaghetti supper and bingo on Saturday, May 16, at the Kooskia Community Center. The meal will be served from 5-7 p.m., with bingo beginning at 7 p.m. They would like a donation of $7 for adults and $5 for children.

This is the annual cleanup time of year for Kooskia. Dumpsters will be located at the Kooskia City Park to hold all the stuff that has been collecting all winter. Check with the attendant to be sure all you are bringing to the dump is allowed.

The Kamiah Afterschool Program and Youth Engaged in Service will host a parents’ orientation on May 7, at 6 p.m. in the KAP room located in the modular between the middle and elementary schools. If your child is planning to attend KAP or YES when school starts next year, you must attend the parent orientation; there are no exceptions. This will be the first orientation of the year and every child receives a scholarship on a first-come basis. Contact Vickie Jackson or Tina Brotnov at 935-4044 before 2:30 p.m. in the KAP room after 3 p.m. if you have any questions. All children are welcome to attend.

May 4-8, Clearwater Valley Elementary will host a Scholastic Book Fair from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Funds raised will help purchase books for use by students in the library and classroom. They will be open daily.

A group of good-natured area residents, who share a devotion to the game of softball, will once again get together and play recreational coed softball this summer in Kooskia. Come practice and play on Mondays and Thursdays, 6-7:30 p.m. at Kooskia City Park. Contact Ruth Mohr at 926-7203.
