Blackmer Memorial tourney set May 29-30

GRANGEVILLE — For his GHS senior project, Austin Parks is putting together a little league baseball tournament with proceeds to be donated to the Austin Blackmer Scholarship Fund.

The tournament will be played May 29-30.

Youth golf camp set to run June 15-19

GRANGEVILLE — Grangeville Country Club will host a weeklong camp instructed by Jon Stein 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 15-19.

The cost is $50 and includes a scramble tournament followed by lunch that Friday. Register online at thefirstteeidaho.org.

White Bird Rodeo books open June 8

WHITE BIRD — The White Bird Rodeo main event books will open June 8 for call backs June 9 through the Idaho Cowboys Association office, 845-2051, or online at enterup.biz.

Local event entries open June 10 until filled — entries are limited — in team roping, youth barrels, steer riding and wild cow milking. Contact 983-7701. For mutton bustin’ call 507-2120 on June 10 for entries and details.

The White Bird Rodeo, held annually on Fathers Day weekend, falls on June 19-20 this year.

Swimming pool to open June 6; new swim classes offered

GRANGEVILLE — Grangeville City Pool is set to open June 6, with the swim team scheduled to start practicing on June 8, 8-9:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and 5-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Swim teamers who missed the early registration deadline may still register; forms will be available at the pool. Cost is $60 for a family’s first child, $50 for each additional family member.

The swim team’s season concludes with Grangeville’s home swim meet, which falls on Aug. 15 this year.

Three new swim classes are being offered this summer. Two separate shallow end courses called “AquaFit” will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays, 7-8 a.m., the first to run June 22-July 15 and the second to run July 20-Aug. 12. Cost is $25 and covers each set of eight sessions. A “Deep Aqua Challenge” course to run the length of the lap pool is to run 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays July 7-30.

Basketball car wash scheduled for May 30

GRANGEVILLE – The Grangeville Girls Summer League Basketball team will host a donations-only car wash Saturday, May 30, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Rae Brothers parking lot. Money earned will be used for summer tournaments and games throughout the month of June.
