Big Cedar Homemakers

On Oct. 14, 12 members of the Big Cedar Homemakers club and one guest, Lil Britton, met at the Big Cedar Schoolhouse, called to order by President Kris Perry.

We discussed getting a Home Depot grant to help with schoolhouse repairs. This would include adding insulation to the building. Bart Stryhas will come and level outside the schoolhouse. We discussed trimming the cedar tree, removing needles from the roof and other fire mitigation work at the schoolhouse with help from the Ridge Runner Fire Department.

It is time for the annual Christmas swag sale.  Irene volunteered to sit in front of Clearwater Valley Marketplace in Kooskia, on Tuesday, Nov. 24th and sell extra Christmas swags, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We decided to meet on the 18th to make the swags and deliver them on Monday, Nov. 23, at 8 a.m.

Community events discussed included:

Sat. Nov. 14th – 1 p.m., Geology presentation by Bart Stryhas at Kooskia Community Library

Tuesday, Nov. 23rd – 9 a.m. -1 p.m. Bake sale fund-raiser for Ray Mefford at Clearwater Valley Marketplace in Kooskia.

Our next meeting will be held on November 18th at 9 AM at the Big Cedar Schoolhouse to assemble Christmas swags and enjoy stone soup.

Big Cedar Homemakers is open to any ladies in the Clearwater Valley area. Contact Irene Finehout at 926-4783.
