Turkey, Bingo on tap for Nov. 15

Nicole L. Lowe 839-2777

— The annual Rebekahs turkey dinner and bingo will be held this Sunday, Nov. 15. Bingo starts at 10 a.m. and dinner begins at noon. Bring your quarters and your appetites. This is one of the Rebekahs biggest fund-raisers for the year. Support them because they support you. You all know what great cooks they are, so you won’t want to miss dinner.

The White Bird Chamber is still working on a “White Bird Yellow Pages.” This would be a listing of all White Bird area emergency numbers and public buildings. Any new business interested in being in the listing, contact Barbara Lowe at 839-2444. There will be a White Bird Chamber of Commerce Meet and Greet, next Monday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m., at Hoot’s Café. This meeting will involve going over the yellow pages, what the chamber is about and how they support our local businesses and community. Everyone is invited to come and see what’s happening.

I’ve advertised that pick-up time at the mobile food bank is 1 p.m., for a reason. Everyone seemed to be showing up way too early. Pick-up time should actually be about 12:30 p.m., so I figured if I told everyone 1 p.m., then the “early birds” would show up about 12:30 p.m. Well, once again, it was a mad rush and food was gone, hectically by 12:45 p.m. It takes all of us volunteers quite a while to get all the food separated and boxed up. When you show up early, it creates stress for all of us. I’ve asked nicely not to show up early and you didn’t listen. Next month you can show up as early as you want. Go ahead and be first in line, but there’s going to be a rope across the entrance and you’re not getting in until I take it down. And, unless it’s pouring down rain, or we have enough volunteers that everything gets done super quickly, that rope will be up until 12:30 p.m. Also, when you come to get food, enter from the north entrance, stay in your car, wait in line and we’ll just move you on through one car at a time. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible for our community. Remember, it’s the first Thursday of the month. If you need food delivered, call me at 839-2234.

The cribbage tournament at the Silver Dollar last week brought in 18 players. Dot got first and Carolynn got second. Join in next week, Saturday at 2 p.m.

Happy birthday this week to: Laree Bass, Alisha Johnson, Paul Van Acker, Wanda Pilant, Glenna McClure, Benjamin Lindsey, Jackie Ghan, Adam Kryns, Shirley Stark, and three of the most beautiful ladies in the world, My momma Verna Lowe, my niece Ashley Lowe and my favorite daughter Beverly Callihan.
