Veterans Day events planned

A variety of Veterans Day events are set for today, Wednesday, Nov. 11, including the following:


•Cottonwood Joint School District 242 will present a program for veterans on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m., in the Prairie Elementary School Gym. All veterans and their family members are invited. Parents and the public are welcome to attend too.


•Grangeville High School will host a Veterans Day assembly Wednesday, Nov. 11, 10:15 a.m.

Senior Hailey Sullivan is organizing the GHS Veterans Day Assembly as part of her senior project.

The public is welcome and the program includes music by GHS band and choirs, name reading, brief history and slide show and Quilts of Valor presentations. Special speaker this year will be Tom Overly.


•The Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5407 will be hosting the annual Veterans Day chili feed Wednesday, Nov. 11, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the post home, 3376 Tamarack. The annual activity is held to honor veterans. All veterans will receive a free lunch of chili or soup, cornbread, dessert and beverage. Family and community members are invited to attend for a donation of $5 each. To volunteer or make a donation call Carolynn at 926-4795.


•A Veterans Day program will be presented by the Salmon River High School students Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Salmon River High School at 9 a.m. More veterans will be honored with Quilts of Valor made by Pinehurst Quilters. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this presentation.
