Area communities offer Christmas wishes for kids

A variety of local programs are available for children in need at Christmas time. Included are the following:


•St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics will be sponsoring a Christmas “Angel Tree” for families in need of help getting through the holidays. Families in need can call Stacie Jackson at 962-2326 (days) or 962-3201 (evenings). Names accepted until Dec. 1.


 •Families in Grangeville, Harpster, Clearwater, Fenn or White Bird, can sign up for the Grangeville Tree of Sharing during the month of November. To have your child’s wishes placed on the tree, sign up at Health and Welfare no later than Dec. 4. Call Linda at 983-2300.

•Toys for Tots donation boxes will be at Umpqua Bank and Camas Lanes in Grangeville, as well as at The Hangout in Cottonwood. Names of families in need are now being taken. Distribution will be Dec. 19. Call 983-2183.


•Umpqua Bank in Kooskia is now accepting applications for the Tree of Sharing. All applicants must live in the Kooskia, Stites and Clearwater areas and be younger than the age of 18. All applications must be turned in no later than Dec. 11. All gifts must be turned in to the bank by Dec. 1 and picked up by Dec. 22.
