Annual event set for Dec. 13

Hospice volunteers have been busy cutting and pasting.

A group of ladies have been getting together to cut and make intricate paper ornaments for the annual Tree of Lights memorial celebration.

“Several of us have been making the ornaments and now we will get together in December to place the names on them,” said volunteer Rose Mangini.

In all, Syringa Hospice has about 26 volunteers for the whole program.

“We can always use more and there are all sorts of ways to help,” said MSW Cindy Higgins who heads the program. Call 983-1700 to volunteer.

The Tree of Lights memorial service is set for Sunday, Dec. 13, 2 p.m., at the Soltman Center. The candlelight event will include a memorial service for loved ones, music and poems.

To allow time to prepare the personalized, handmade ornaments, donations should be received no later than Dec. 9. Mail or deliver memorials to Syringa Hospital & Clinics Hospice, 607 West Main Street, Grangeville, ID 83530, or pick up an envelope/form at the hospital and various businesses in town. The form can also be downloaded at www.syringahospital.org.

Following the program, donors can pick up their ornament or it can be specified these are to be mailed to recipients’ families or friends.
