STITES Gerry Cathey is one of two people running unopposed for two four-year terms on the Stites City Council.
Currently serving as an appointee to the council, Cathey is a 28-year resident, and according to his campaign release, has business experience and a “strong management background.”
“I have a vision for Stites that, with the help of residents and the other city leaders, will take us beyond the status quo and show more improvement within the community,” he said.
His vision includes continuing efforts to improve safety of the water supply, as well as improving the city’s relationship with Kooskia regarding their mutual inter-municipal contract for wastewater treatment; and upgrading the sewer collection system to minimize treatment costs.
Cathey seeks support to enforce city ordinances in a more consistent manner, he said, to continue support and training for local fire protection and EMS personnel, and to seek funding for the construction of a public restroom in the area of the city office and the city park.
Cathy, along with incumbent Josh Bradley, are running unopposed for the two seats in the Nov. 3 election.
