COTTONWOOD — After the rain Saturday evening, I went outside just to look at the blue sky! It was beautiful. More rain on Sunday should have been of some help to the firefighters. The full moon was something to see also.

An instructional shooting clinic will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Flying B Outfitters just outside of Kamiah. The training will include safety training with a variety of small caliber pistols and rifles. All firearms and ammunition will be provided, no personal firearms allowed. Cost is $45 per person and lunch will be provided. Register at Rae Bros Sporting Goods by Sept. 4. The class is limited to the first 24 to sign up. This is for beginners who would like to learn how to protect themselves or just to get familiar with guns.

This Sunday will be the last summer Mass at Holy Cross Chapel at 7 p.m. The Holy Cross Guild will host a dessert potluck at the Holy Cross Hall following the Mass on Sept. 6. Bring a dessert and join us.

Tri-Parish members, it has been more than five years since the last parish directory was prepared. We are announcing photo sessions by Life Touch on Oct. 27-31 and Nov. 3-7 from 1-8 p.m. each day.

Sign-up information will be announced in mid-September. Each family will receive a free directory and free 8x10 photo. Families may choose to order more photos. The Tri-Parish Directory is a major means to connect with each other; therefore, your address, phone and e-mail information is important. If anyone would like to help on this project, contact Judy Forsman 962-5906 or Jim Rehder 962-7798. Thank you for your participation in this very important project.

There will be a Diaper Bag Donation Drive for little ones in foster care. Needed are diapers, wipes, bottles, binkies, rash creams, baby powder, formula, new diaper bags and snacks. Drop donations off at Department of Health and Welfare, 216 S. “C” St., Grangeville.

We are happy to announce that we have another grandson! Our son, Neil and his wife, Susan, have a baby boy born July 31. His name is Weston Charles Wassmuth. He shares a birthday with our oldest grandson, Nolan Dillard, who is 23-years older. That makes 17 grandkids for us. What a great world we live in.
