GHS parents: Save the date of Sept. 16 for open house

GRANGEVILLE — Grangeville High School parents are asked to save the date of Wednesday, Sept. 16, for an all-school open house. Parents will meet that evening at the GHS cafeteria and will be given schedules of their children’s classes. Parents will attend each class for a few minutes where they will have a chance to meet with teachers and ask questions. Look for more details in next week’s paper.

WB Rec District sets Sept. 19 meeting

WHITE BIRD — White Bird Recreation District will host a meet and greet potluck dinner, Saturday, Sept. 19, 1 p.m., at the Old White Bird School. Bring a dish to share, a chair to sit, and ideas or thoughts for the district grounds, program and building. Call Dean at 839-2303 or Steve at 839-9991.

Grangeville ‘Little Britches’ screening set for Oct. 8, 9

GRANGEVILLE — The Little Britches Annual Developmental Screening will be taking place Oct. 8 and 9, for children ages birth to 5 years of age.

The screener will help determine age-appropriate skills or possible concerns regarding development. The screening is free and will take approximately an hour to complete. The screening will be held at the Grangeville Christian Church in Grangeville between the hours of 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 983-1671 to schedule an appointment.

CV music department seeks donations

KOOSKIA — As the school year begins, the Clearwater Valley Music Department is accepting donations to assist band students with rental costs for their instruments. Rental fees are $25 per semester or $50 per year. Donations are tax deductible and remain confidential to the student, but allows them to participate when they might not otherwise be able to do so.

In addition, all donations for the music department in general are accepted. This money is used to buy new music, equipment, and to pay for busing to District II music events. These events allow students to experience playing and singing with larger groups and to receive feedback from judges to improve their playing and singing. Call 926-4511 or e-mail

Clearwater meal set for Sept. 16

CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Meal Center’s next luncheon is set for Wednesday, Sept. 16, noon. Meals are served the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Clearwater Baptist Church. No charge for the luncheon, $5 donation appreciated when possible. All are welcome. Call 926-7176.

Community sale is Sept. 12 at Tahoe

Navajo taco dinner planned for Sept. 19

BIG CEDAR — The Navajo Taco Dinner at the Big Cedar Schoolhouse will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, from 5-7pm. The Big Cedar Homemakers will be serving tacos, desserts and drinks at the schoolhouse located at the junction of Red Fir and Big Cedar Roads — south intersection. Join friends and members of the community for $5.

There will also be a raffle for many items, some of which are firewood, boot planter, scarves and jewelry.
