Jail inmate charged with incitement to escape

— Incarcerated on pending drug charges, an Idaho County Jail inmate faces a new charge for allegedly attempting to incite inmates on an escape attempt.

Steeven G. Nunez, 27, is charged with criminal solicitation, a felony, resulting from an Aug. 15 incident. A preliminary hearing on the charge was set for yesterday, Sept. 8.

Nunez is currently incarcerated, awaiting a Jan. 21 trial on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia he incurred earlier this year.

On Aug. 15, according to court records, Nunez had been acting agitated and made repeated attempts to have on-duty deputy jailer Jakob Brooks release him from his cell on different requests. Records state Brooks received information from a confidential informant that Nunez was planning an escape for that evening and had been attempting to recruit inmates to assist by first overpowering the jailer.

As a result, Nunez was transferred to the jail’s maximum security cell, and four inmates were interviewed who confirmed Nunez had allegedly attempted to recruit them into an escape attempt.
